This Heart Rate Calculator uses your age to work out your maximum heart rate (measured in heartbeats per minute). Based on that figure, the calculator then works out the minimum and maximum heart rates you should stay between while taking exercise.
You can check your beats-per-minute rate by taking your pulse while you exercise.
Use your index finger to locate the bony prominence on the thumb side of your wrist. Slide your finger down gently towards the centre of your wrist. Time the number of beats you feel for 15 seconds, then multiply by 4.
